Young talents successfully perform in Vitebsk
Moscow
Many musicians fruitfully work with young artists helping them in their creative grow. Kim Breitburg is among them – the significant figure for modern pop-music. In the 80ies the created by him band “dialog” played on the poetry of famous poets: Tarkovski, Evtushenko, Marcinkiavichusa. Then Kim turned to composer activity and created the hits for modern pop-stars – Alla Pugacheva sings his “Two candles”, Valeriy Leontiev – “Rose of Caire”, the “Prime Ministr” band performed with “Northern girl” on “Eurovision”. Recently, the composer is the musical producer of the TV project “People’s Artist”.
-Last year you drive your pupils from “People’s Artist” to Vitebsk for the festival “Slavic Bazaar”. -What were their performances in front of Belarus viewers?
-The group of participants from “People’s Artist” included: ALexey Goman, Alexander Panjotov, Alexey Chumakov, Svetlana Svetlaya, “A-sortie” band. I think, the participation in “Slavic Bazaar”, events connected to it and just the presents on the festival was the great emotional charge for the young talents. The hall was filled completely on the sole concert of our guys, in spite it began late in the evening. “Slavic Bazaar” is the magnificent event, it gives the musician an ability to communicate and pleases the public a lot. Our guys worked wonderful, they looked very worthy and the friendly feedback of the public helped them much. Belarus has very good audience. I remember it from my own tour there long ago, and now I assured in it once again.
-When were you on tour in Belarus?
-In 80-ies with the band “Dialog” we traveled over whole republic, we performed in Vitebsk, Gomel, Bobruiysk, Brest…I think people still remember our concerts in Minsk. “Dialog’s” life was saturate with tours and unquiet. We traveled with concerts, worked on stadiums in different regions of Russia, visited Belarus too. “Pesniari” impressed me much that time. They possessed great performing skill culture, they were by right considered the best band in the country. The echo of “Pesniari” influence affected, on my opinion, the creative work of “Prime Ministr”, which, though works in different stile, still is more vocal band than vocal-instrument. That is of course a bit different culture, other aesthetic, but I learnt the very principle of such professional attitude to the vocal due to the songs of “Pesniari”.
-Do you prepare your self for the “Eurovision” competition in Kiev?
-I made the song “balalaika” for Sasha Panajotov and Lesha Chumakov, the finalists of the “People’s Artist” of 2003. We gave the song to the org-committee, it passed the audition and will participate in the TV contest. I think, those young guys are ready for the “Eurovision”. They are well trained, good looking, and were on tour already.
“Eurovision” is the contest of performers, not the songs, if you want, it is the competition on the size of the audience. Creating “Balalayka”, we wanted to make something connected with Russian mentality. And it should contain the word, which was associated with Russia all over the world. “Balalayka” is that word.
-What is your opinion, can the song become old?
-Good melody never becomes old, though the lyrics can. And the great melodies live for long time. Some songs don’t old at all.
-What does modern song lack?
-Deep and particularity. It is clear, that the mass song shouldn’t be complex, but its best representatives still touch the soul so deep, that they stay there for long time. It is difficult now to be the author of the song, which will sound for more 20-30 years. There is too much music, and everything is transient. In the soviet time, it was enough for the song to sound several times, and the whole country sang it. And it is impossible to imagine that nowadays.
Our stars Pugacheva and Leontiev reached then such popularity, which young artists can’t obtain now. Those stars were the only ones, all love and attention of the people were concentrated on them. Such is unreachable now…
